Matt McSparin

Position: Founder

Hometown: Charleston, IL presently residing in Edwardsville, IL

Scouting Report: Matt runs the clubhouse and has only recruited the best of the best to join ’62 Sports Group as evidenced by the high signing bonuses. He also still services over 25% of the accounts and always seems to have the bases jammed with projects.

Stats: Matt has spent 25 years in sport and event related positions including stints with the Chicago White Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, GM of the Missouri River Otters Professional Hockey Team, McCann Erickson Event Marketing, and the last 14 years owning and operating ’62 Sports Group. Matt and his wife Mindy spend their non-work time at youth sporting events and church activities. The couple has three grade school aged children, Maverick, Mitch and Maren.

Brent Freeman

Position: Vice President

Hometown: Champaign, IL presently residing in Edwardsville, IL

Scouting Report: He works with customers in making good selections for their specific event needs. Brent takes great pride in seeing the plan to fruition and prides himself on follow up. He also plays a mean third base on the local softball team.

Stats: While new to the event marketing industry, Brent has 18 years experience in customer service and management. Brent enjoys sports of all kinds and is very active in his church. He also sits on the Executive Board for the Southern Illinois chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Chris Rydgig

Position: Senior Account Executive

Hometown: Granite City, IL

Scouting Report: Chris confers with clients to ensure the vision of their event is brought to life flawlessly and produced in the most efficient manner. He makes it known that the most rewarding portion of the job is bringing people together in a family atmosphere and seeing the fun through the smiles on their faces. He understands that the best events are achieved by paying attention to the smallest of details and keeping a certain form with everything you do, needless to say…he likes to think his golf swing is impeccable!

Stats: With the turn of 2006 he enters his 4th year in the industry but carries a background full of special event production. He spent 7 years in the catering/special event industry and 1 year with a competing event marketing company before joining ’62 Sports Group. No matter the size of the event he always pays attention to the details and treats every client with complete respect. His wife Samantha and him are enjoying the newest addition to their family, their daughter Layla. Any time Chris spends away from the family is playing sports, fishing, hunting, or just enjoying what life brings his way!

Kevin Enger

Position: Account Executive

Scouting Report: Kevin provides event planning and production services to corporate clients throughout the Midwest. He believes every event should be memorable for ’62 Sports clients and their guests. Kevin also handles the advertising sales for St. Louis Cardinals Publications, including Gameday Magazine, Scorecard and Cardinals Yearbook.

Stats: Kevin has extensive restaurant and catering management experience. He currently serves as chairperson of the building committee at Church of the Shepherd in St. Peters. Kevin is a cabinet member for Youth in Need’s “Celebration of Youth 2007” fundraising events.

Chris Thornton

Position: Director of Operations

Hometown: Alton, IL

Scouting Report: Chris plays centerfield for the operations department. By working with the Account Executives and all of the clients he is the glue that holds the big picture together. He oversees the part time staff and ensures that the events run smoothly.

Stats: Chris has spent 8 years working in sports and event related positions. He was the Ticket Manager for the Missouri River Otters for two seasons prior to taking the Director of Operations position with ’62 Sports Group. Chris spends his free time playing golf and enjoying many different sports

Position: Event Planning Manager

Stats: Graduate of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville: Bachelor of Science & Master of Arts in Speech Communication/Marketing. With 9 plus years in the event industry ranging from Radio Promotions, Event Marketing, Concert Production, and overall Event Management.

Mike Broeckling

Position: Operations Assistant

Hometown: Albers, IL currently residing in Florissant, MO

Scouting Report: Mike is a new addition to the team in the role of utility player. He generally takes responsibility for securing the necessary equipment the team needs to perform every specific event we handle. But he doesn’t stop there. Mike can be found wherever he is needed making sure every event runs smoothly.

Stats: I worked my way up through the ranks at 62 as an event staffer and quickly became a manager. I only recently became a full fledged member of the 62 team as an operations assistant. I have worked in a variety of other settings as well, making me an excellent addition to the team. When not at work, I can be found at the gym or with friends and family. I am eagerly awaiting the birth of my first child who is due in May.

Kyle Clothier

Position: Warehouse Coordinator

Hometown: Carrollton, IL, presently residing in Godfrey, IL

Scouting Report: Kyle works hard to maintain a clean and orderly warehouse, while overseeing the equipment loading process.  Kyle is a utility player of the highest level.    

Stats: While new to this particular warehouse, Kyle has spent the last five years managing another plant and warehouse in a different industry.  He has also been an event manager at ’62 Sports Group for the past three seasons.  Kyle enjoys sports of all kinds, and spends some of his free time playing basketball and attending baseball games.
