About Us
62 Sports Group is the Midwest region’s premier provider of employee appreciation events.  Our experienced event planners specialize in creating company picnics, community open houses, family fun days and corporate anniversary celebrations just right for your organizations.  Professional, On-Site Event Managers handle every detail of your event while you and your guests enjoy the festivities.  Whether your celebration includes twenty or twenty thousand guests, 62 Sports Group will produce a creative and fun interactive event worth remembering. Our Account Management Team is known for seamlessly executing creative, fun, and distinctive events. Our philosophy is simple- Through our experience and expertise; we strive to bring the vision of your event to life. Producing a successful event is, indeed, a team effort and the 62 Sports Group Account Management Team is the best in the business!

 

John Smith – President
John is actively involved in all aspects of 62 Sports Group.   His more than 30 years of sales, marketing and general management experience, uniquely qualify him to lead 62 Sport Group now, and into the future.  His vision for the business is "customer centered" - uncompromising client care, taking time to clearly understand your needs, and tailoring our capabilities to meet and exceed your expectations - for every event, every time!   John's commitment to quality and a genuinely positive experience for our customers is shared by every member of the 62 Sports team. 
On a personal level, John enjoys relationships with family and friends, current events, golfing, traveling, and the outdoors.

Brent C. Freeman - Vice President
Brent is a knowledgeable business leader with over eighteen years of management and customer service experience.   As the Vice President of 62 Sports Group, Brent works closely with our Operations Team to ensure that we exceed the expectations of every customer…for every event!  His passion for excellence is shared by every member of the Operations Team and his leadership abilities have everyone at 62 Sports Group excited about our continued growth as the Midwest’s most outstanding full service event company.
In his free time, Brent is very involved in his Church and enjoys playing golf and softball. He also tries to get in one ski trip per year, as well as a trip to the beach!

Janice Smith – Account Executive
Jan brings sales and marketing experience, developing intelligent solutions and creative planning for our clients. Jan’s clients benefit from her positive outlook, because their needs and events are designed and executed to their highest expectations. 
For leisure, she is a ballroom dancer, enjoys working out, and likes to spend quality time with her husband and their pets.

Justin Pierce – Account Executive
Justin performs a multi-tasking role in working with clients from their initial contact all the way to post-event follow up. After several years as one of 62 Sports Group’s best event managers, Justin joined our sales team in 2007.  His event management experience is of great benefit to his clients who rely on his judgment and knowledge to plan, design and execute their events. 

Chris Rydgig – Senior Account Executive
Chris understands that the best events are achieved by paying attention to the smallest of details.  He works closely with his clients to ensure the vision of their event is brought to life flawlessly and produced in the most efficient manner.  Chris believes that the most rewarding part of his job is bringing people together in a family atmosphere and seeing the fun through the smiles on their faces. With over ten years of event management and event catering experience, Chris is a knowledgeable event professional who will make your event memorable for your guests.
In his spare time, Chris enjoys spending time outdoors with his wife, Samantha and the newest addition to the Rydgig family, their daughter Layla.

  

Andrea DeMoulin – Account Executive
Andrea brings to 62 Sports a proven history in the event industry, in all aspects of decorating, catering, and party planning.  As an account executive, Andrea embraces the opportunity to ensure that each and every one of her clients enjoys an event above and beyond their expectations.  She is a lifelong Edwardsville resident and a member of the Edwardsville Rotary Club. 
Andrea most enjoys reading, cooking, and spending time with her family, especially her husband, James, and their two daughters, Gabrielle and Sophia.

Kevin Enger – Senior Account Executive
Kevin has extensive management experience in the event industry.  He brings a creative and fun outlook to planning your event while managing every small detail to ensure the successful production of your activities.  His background in restaurant and catering management gives him a unique insight into creating a menu just right for your corporate picnic.  Kevin enjoys building relationships with his clients and treats every event as if it were his own.
Kevin and his wife Mary are residents of O’Fallon Missouri.  He is actively involved in the community, serving on the board of directors of Missouri K.I.D.S., as a cabinet member for the Youth-In-Need annual dinner/auction fundraiser, and as chairman of the building committee at Church of the Shepherd.

Operations Team
The goal of our Operation’s Team is to identify and understand our customer’s needs while structuring the right logistics and operational support required to produce the highest quality event at a fair price.  We have assembled a dynamic team that works tirelessly to produce every event to perfection.  The 62 Sports Group Operations Team brings a positive attitude to your event site and our professional staff is trained to handle every detail during the production of your event.

 

Kyle Clothier – Catering Supervisor/Warehouse Manager
Kyle supervises our catering department, handling food ordering and inventory.  He is ServSafe certified and conducts regular training sessions on food preparation and safety for our catering staff.   Kyle also manages the warehouse and keeps the equipment in good working order.  As a former event manager, he knows the importance of providing clean, safe and reliable equipment for every event.
Kyle enjoys sports and music of all kinds.  He spends some of his free time playing basketball, the guitar, and attending baseball games.  Kyle is nearing the completion of his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management.

Steve Reid – Recruiting Director
Steve is responsible for the recruitment and development of the 62 Sports staff. After 23 years in retail management, Steve has dedicated the last 10 years to the event industry. He carefully selects each new team member to insure they have the positive, fun, caring attitude that is so important to every event. Steve monitors our very detailed training program to insure our staff knows how to properly set and operate equipment. He enjoys seeing the sense of pride our staff takes in every successful event.
In his free time Steve enjoys baseball, golfing, and spending time with his wife of 25 years, Sheri.

Mike Broeckling - Warehouse and Equipment Manager
Mike's role is to evaluate the equipment needed for events and make sure every item is in the best condition possible before it reaches the event site.  He carefully reviews each event and checks that everything is properly packed and delivered to our on-site event teams.When he is not working, Mike can be found at the gym, the library, or chasing after his daughter as she learns to walk.

Chris Thornton – Director of Operations
Chris is actively involved in all aspects of the operations department.  He has more than eight years experience working in sports and event related fields.  His expertise enables the sales and operations departments to work together as a team to plan and produce quality events for our clients.  Chris is our “go to guy” who makes every event a priority and finds solutions to problems before they occur.
Chris enjoys spending his free time with family and playing as much golf as possible.

Matt McSparin – Founder
Matt founded ’62 Sports Group in 1993 and has established and served in all aspects of the operation from logistics, event management, sales, operations, and marketing. After selling the company in January of 2008, Matt remains a part of the team by servicing his clients and serving on the Board of Directors. The foundation of 62 Sports Group was built on hard work, constant improvement through evaluation and a sincere interest to train and treat our employees in the best possible manner so they will serve you, our client, in the best possible way.
Matt’s free time is spent volunteering with the Glen Ed Chamber, Edwardsville Little Tigers Football, two youth baseball teams, Glen Ed Last Night, and Eden Church. He and his wife Mindy have three grade school aged children, Maverick, Mitch and Maren.
